I am making a Dessert bar that goes best w / nut filling, choc or yellow cake?

I'm making a Dessert bar recipe. I am the combination of oats w / cake mix of lower crust, adding a layer of pie filling, and topping with the reserved crust mixture. I do not know if I should go with the chocolate cake mix or yellow cake mix and sprinkle chocolate chips on top? That sounds better?

I have seen many recipes and many cooked with a yellow cake "crust." I have done all kinds of bars like this. I do not think I would go with chocolate pecan pie filling. Is this recipe called willow rods pecan pie and are made with a yellow cake mix and butter crust and a pecan pie filling topping. They are delicious!
